We often find ourselves in parts of our lives when things seem to be spread way too thin. Money, time, energy, can all seem to be insufficient for what we have to accomplish. Our world seems to be putting more and more pressure on these things especially. It is important to remember to keep our focus on Christ, because He is our provider and comforter. This the Lord shows me in the following contemplation.
Feeding The Five Thousands
And they saw them going away, and many knew, and they ran flocking thither on foot from all the cities, and were there before them. And Jesus going out saw a great multitude, and He had compassion on them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd, and He began to teach them many things.
And when the day was now far spent, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a desert place, and the hour is now past. Send them away, that going into the next villages and towns, they may buy themselves meat to eat.”
And He, answering them, said to them, “Give you them to eat.”
And they said to Him, “Let us go and buy bread for two hundred pence, and we will give them to eat.”
And He saith to them, “How many loaves have you? Go and see.”
And when they knew, they say, “Five, and two fish.”
And He commanded them that they should make them all sit down by companies upon the green grass. And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds and by fifties.
And when He had taken the five loaves, and the two fishes, looking up to heaven, He blessed, and broke the loaves, and gave to His disciples to set before them. And the two fishes He divided among them all.

My Contemplation
I am a small child in the crowd. I become restless as the day goes on. I grow more tired and more hungry. I don’t really understand what is happening or what is being said, but I find myself drawn to the man that is speaking to the crowd.
As everyone is asked to split into groups and sit down in the grass I sit with my parents in a group that that is close to Jesus. As we are eating I am drawn to Him sitting upon the grass. I walk over and watch Him sort of bashfully. He sees me and smiles, inviting me to sit in His lap. He feeds me and cuddles me and loves me so very much. I fall asleep in the safety of His arms.
I often find myself thinking that what I have isn’t enough. That things are happening and they are too confusing to understand. The truth is, however, that when I focus my attention on Christ and place myself in His lap, He will multiply all that He has given me. I encourage you to seek Him in your times of need. Everything you have is enough because it comes from Him. It is enough because He is enough.
